I first used Production 101 for my daughter's 16th birthday party which was held in a large place and was fancy. Move forward 2 yrs later and her 18th was held at home in a more casual environment and Kyle and his team adjusted not only to the venue but the environment and they rocked the crowd of teenagers. Even the adults had fun. They came into my home and treated the environment with respect, adapted to the location and made the party fun for 4 straight hours. "My daughter's Sweet 16 Birthday party was being planned for 2 years and the evening had to be fun and go off without a hitch or I would have been disappointed. I was hesitant about hiring a DJ without having heard them play first and it was with a tinge of nervousness that I contracted with Party 101 Productions. My decision while based on the positive reviews posted, truth be told I was a little sceptical that the reviews may have been biased. How wrong I was, and how glad I am that I went with my gut !!! Kyle and his team were consummate professionals from the first contact, never deviating until the end of the party. Every one of my numerous questions were answered during the planning stages in a timely and "no problem" manner. During the event Kyle, being the professional that he is adapted and had available "caribbean" songs that were requested and not on the playlist. That was amazing and showed me and our guests that he is prepared for the unexpected. The event was semi-formal/formal and Kyle and his team came dressed for the occasion. He included every child in the fun and got the shy ones on the floor with ease and without drawing undue attention to them. He demonstrated a knack for dealing with teenagers and adults alike in making sure the party mood was in sync with the planned events throughout the evening. When dinner was served, he modified the music, made sure the kids were hydrated by reminding them to pick up their glasses when he noticed some stayed for hours on the floor. He was intuned with the shifting energy of the guests and seamlessly and with success kept the music aligned so that there was never a gap in dancing, singing along or pumping up those kids. When you book Party 101 Productions you get a professional team who manages the music well, create the environment you requested and does it seamlessly and with professional flair. Once Party 101 Productions were on board, I was able to enjoy my daughter's special day watching the smile on her face and hearing her friends tell her that "this was the best party ever". WOOOOW! As you both probably know by now, I am NEVER at a loss for words. . .but, you two have managed to do the impossible -- I am left blown away and speechless by Party101 Productions and DJ I AM!!
From the moment I contacted Party101, I had an instant connection and sense that DJ I AM knew in a few brief seconds exactly what we were looking for in a wedding DJ. Altough my venue had a number of qualified DJs on their frequent vendor list, I decided to hire Party 101 and I, and my guests, are so glad we did!!
DJ I AM is that "very rare" find - a "wedding DJ" that is also a masterful "party DJ"!! Believe me, I put a lot of time and energy into researching and interviewing DJs. Some party DJs can provide the right party/club vibe, but can't do the formal announcing and specific wedding activities. Many wedding DJs can do the formal announcing and wedding specifics, but can't seem to actually get a "party vibe" for the reception. Party101 is the complete and total package on this front!! DJ I AM voice was "rich, sexy and booming" without being canned or cheesy and his switch into that party/club DJ vibe was awesome.
I appreciate that Party101 is a full service DJ company. For brides who need a lot of extra guidance during the planning process, I love that each client gets their own personal planning pages, which include things many don't think about -- like play and don't play lists, specialty songs for cake cutting, toasts, etc. However, having said that the best part for me is that Party 101 NEVER felt like a one-size fit all DJ. I felt like you all really took the time to understand what it was we were trying to achieve -- even when we weren't clear what we wanted!! (LOL!)
I am further blown away by DJ I AM and Lisa's ability to "read" the guests and the wedding situation in general. I don't have to remind you, but the day of the wedding did not get off to the best start! Because of the 65 mph winds off the bay and the pouring rain, the entire ceremony and reception had to be moved at the "7th hour" underneath a tent. It is my understanding that by the time you all arrived, the tent had just recently been resecured. Nevertheless, you all rolled with the tide and set up accordingly, and was in no way rattled by the last minute changes. I sincerely appreciate the fact that DJ I AM is so talented a DJ as to be able to think on his feet!! We all know that weddings are rarely without their glitches and hiccups; unfortunately, most DJs go with script and are never able to adjust. However, between the two of you, you were able to follow and read the situation(s) perfectly and adjust accordingly. So, if the timeline called for "a toast" but we were actually "cutting cake" -- you were able to follow the flow and adapt accordingly -- and that is truly rare!!
EVERY guest . . . and I know sometime thank you letters over-embellish, but "every" guest RAVED about the DJ!! There were actually "live tweets" that night tweeting about the "cold ass party; DJ of the chain"! (lol) Although I would never recommend your other clients wait to the last minute to finalize their music, I am still impressed that you were able to customize and put together such a FANTASTIC reception and party/club play list since we did in fact not firm up everything until the night before! Also, it was not lost on me that once again, in your professional expertise, you were able to even add songs that were not on the play list or even discussed, but you did so because you were able to "read the crowd" and knew instinctly what to play and when. The "James Brown" stuff was classic and appreciated by all -- young and old.
We had what I consider to be a pretty wide range of ages in our guest attendance -- several 25 & under, lots of 30-36s; 40-50 and quite a few 55 & up . . . Yet, everybody was on the dance floor. I cannot tell you how many guests have commented on how this was the first wedding they have been to in a long time where "people actually danced"! I haven't been to a lot of weddings recently, so I was not aware that people simply do not dance a lot at weddings. Well, this was not the case!! Everyone talked about the dancing even the photographer commented on how many people were dancing and how great the DJ was. (by the way the photographer, Limelight, is a HUGE Sarasota vendor favorite and I can tell you. . . she was SO feeling yall - so I suspect she won't hesitate to pass your name along -- cuz she went on and on about how this was one of her favorite weddings she has shot and attended in a long time! As a matter of fact she stayed an hour over -- at no charge, since she was having such a good time)!
We wanted a "party", club vibe for our reception and you achieved that and more!! The DJ light show was right on the money and could not have been better. People would have sworn they were in NY and not in Sarasota on the Bay!! Also, the fact that you never had the opportunity to meet or talk to the Bride or Groom before the wedding or reception, but yet was able to "capture" their personalities and incorporate that into how you related to their guests is beyond amazing. Ozzie is by nature a "performer" (having been a "drum major" at an HBCU) and a cut up -- an you had him pegged on that Garter Toss!! Everyone is talking about that and wanted to know "when you all had time to practice it"! (I kid you not). That was a classic and I wish someone had taped it -- it would have made an awesome P101 clip on Gigmasters!! When you told him to "go in smooth" that was TREMENDOUSLY righteous!!
Clearly, I cannot say enough about Party101 featuring DJ I AM! And, I would be totally remiss if I did not specifically mention his equally beautiful and talented wife and assistant. How special it was to watch this lovely couple work a wedding together as a team! It is so funny, all our guests keep telling us what a geat wedding and "party" it was!! Very few people leave a wedding and categorize it as a "party". Also, as you may have gathered from things, the majority of the guests were family and friends of Ozzie who traveled from Chicago and Memphis and they loved every aspect of the wedding and have been blowing my phone and email up with compliment after compliment. Whenever, they speak of you two and the wonderful DJ, I am like some proud aunt or cousin. . . like, "yea -- that's my peeps! They did they thang!!"
If I can ever, ever do anything for Party101 or the two of you, please do not hesitate to contact me. My husband is a man of few words (the opposite of me) and he cannot say enough about the two of you. He insisted on tipping you and would love to have you all over some time. I am sure you don't normally hang out with clients afterwards, but my husband insists that he and Kyle need to share a couple of scotches together some time!! I am an excellent cook and would love to have you two over!!
I am so sorry for such a long letter, but my heart is truly full and overwhelmed right now. Needless to say, things did not go exactly how I planned, but you TWO were the glue that held everything together!! From the love songs at Cocktail Hour to everything right up to the last second, you were SPOT on!! A true class act. I think you all may very well be Tampa's and the surrounding area's, best kept entertainment secret!! If you look back at my past emails, I kept saying how proud I was to present your talents to our guests. . . and it's true -- I could not have been more proud.
